Uneventful drive to Beaumaris, spent the afternoon having a picnic on the foreshore and finished with a look around the 13th century castle. This was one of Edward 1 Welsh castles that he had constructed after he had conquered Wales.
He had 2600 men working on it for about two years then the Scots caused a bit of a stir, I suppose Mel Gibson, and he had to take all the worker there to try and put down the Scots. So the construction at Beaumaris ended up being a portcullis short of a castle. Still impressive though!
Tomorrow sees us on the high seas via Holyhead to Ireland, arriving later in the evening at John and Carries. see you then!
