A quiet day, on the advice of our patron Michele we went for a picnic on the island of Isola Maggiore which is in Lago Trasimeno, so there's not much to write about. It's only about a thirty minute journey by ferry and that's because there's an extra stop on the mainland. It is quite a small island but quiet, no cars and only a handful of people, there are a number of restaurants to cater for the tourists which in the summer increases the workforce.
One of the islands claim to fortune is that S. Frank spent one lent there as a hermit. There is a famous story, apparently, about him and a certain rabbit that he found on the island and became a firm friend, then after lent finished, lunch. No I made the last bit up but I think it adds to the story of a grown man and a rabbit!
A nice peaceful day for the end of the Tuscan sojourn.
