Weather sunny and warm, started the day with Haricots Blancs on toast, yum.......
Today we set sail for Arles an old Roman town on the banks of the Rhone River, on the way we came upon a host of golden sunflowers just standing there in the field so we whip out the camera and hello Vincent. On to Arles, such a pretty town and opportunities for lots of photographs, very laid back and only a little touristy. In the car park near us there were ten coaches and on the water one river cruise boat from Switzerland, so all in all pretty peaceful compared to other places. Roman ruins including the Arena and the Theatre, both have been restored and are still in use today for performances. We walked around for a few hours then returned to Noves for a late lunch.
This evening we could hear music from the village so we went to investigate, turns out June 21 is a Festival of Music day, how widespread the festival is we're not sure but there were signs in Arles today and there is a program on TV later. Seems each town puts on local musicians and choirs, as we walked around Noves we saw at least three areas of live music. It was great standing in a crowd watching, people knew each other as there was lots of kissing cheeks French style, just a fun time in the local community, nice to be part of it.
