Day 48 - Wednesday - Christchurch - Mudeford and Crabs

Weather cloudy with partial sun so a visit to Christchurch and Mudeford seemed a good idea and it was. Stroll through a park by the river chatting with a fly fisherman who was after Sea Trout although not successfully, bought some liquorice torpedoes and chocolate from a quaint local sweet shop and generally had a great walk.

Mudeford we went to in 2010 and had a very nice fish and chip meal at the Haven House pub on the harbour this time it was a disappointment though, poor fish and scampi so we went along the front and had an ice cream. Al had a conversation with some fishermen from Birmingham who seemed very confused on how to catch fish!

Back in Portland it was a lovely sunny evening and we had bought a couple of crab lines so we set off to find somewhere to throw them in. Twenty three crabs later in the bucket we were somewhat shell shocked at how easy it was so we might have another go tomorrow, doubt if they were big enough to eat, there does not seem to be a minimum size but we threw them all back to live another day.....
