Day 53 - Monday - Liverpool - Southport - Hotel All Change

On the way to Scotland with a stop over in Southport, but first Liverpool. Since Penny lived here Liverpool has been remade into a cruise ship and tourist destination and a good job they have made of it. A visit to the Liverpool FC shop and a new cap for Penny then a walk around the Albert Docks. Lots of eating and drinking places and tourists, a cruise ship was in port, Celebrity Silhouette, hence all the Americans.

Then to Crosby Beach to catch up with "Another Place" the statutes embedded in the sand by Antony Gormley, the man who designed the "Angel of the North". One hundred life size figures based on Gormley's own body all looking out to sea.

Then to the Albert and Victoria Hotel in Southport to checkin.  The room was small as was the bathroom but we decided that it was only one night so it would ok. However the temperature here was nearly 30 deg today and the room was very hot, it got to about 9pm and the thought of spending the night it this hot pokey room was unbearable so onto the internet and booked a room in the Ramada Inn just 100 metres down the road. We packed in about 5 minutes and headed off for a good nights sleep in the air conditioning.
