Another grey day in Venice so we leave the tourists to it and headed of for the Italian Riviera. The road was typical Italian motorway with no indicators and the Australian habit of driving in the middle lane. We lost count of the number of tunnels but it was a lot, still the alternative is a slow journey and winding mountain roads.
Sanremo or San Remo, seen it spelt both ways here, is a pleasant little town with a large yacht club with large yachts, which passed frequently back and forth in front of our hotel window. There are a lot of "arty" type events and of course the music festival in February each year. Restaurants, shops and motor scooters abound, we saw one lady with her two little girls get on her scooter and ride away, at least they had helmets.....
All in all a nice spot to pass through but unless you were in the "rich and famous" category with a nice boat not a lot to do.
