Breakfast at Bognor Regis may not sound very good but we found a nice little cafe that did breakfast brioche rolls with sausage and bacon. Nice. Today was about getting to Folkestone and the Holiday Inn Express there ready for an early start tomorrow and the ferry. There is a very straight way to go from Portsmouth and takes in some famous areas of the south coast. Breakfast in bognor and a walk along the sea front, how very British and it is all very British at the moment with the Leave/Remain campaigns in relation to the EU. Boris Johnson says the UK will be better off alone and will survive well, David Cameron says if the UK leaves it will all be doom and gloom. It's not very inspiring and how anybody actually knows what will happen is about the only thing an outsider can gain, but both sides make some ridiculous claims.
Enough of that back to Bognor or maybe the next stop for an ice cream and another walk along the front at Littlehampton. Not familiar to me but the sun was shining and the temp in the mid to high 20's and the British turned out in thousands with their lily white skins, except the ones who had been to Spain, they were red. No that is all very unfair as the weather so far this year has not been conducive to whipping off your shirt for a tan, in fact the temp on 1 June was in the mid teens.
Beachy Head was the next chosen sojourn. The last time were here it was blowing a very cold gale and Penny didn't get out of the car. This time there was no wind and it was sunny and warm. The first thing we saw though parked in the car park was the Beachy Head Crisis intervention vehicle with emergency lights on top. This place is a favourite spot for those who cannot go on, as the numerous crosses on the cliff ledge attest. In fact on one of the bench seats there was a bunch of flowers and a note which said' "happy golden wedding my darling though you were only able to make 47 years" whoa tears to your eyes time.
On a lighter note there was a guy flying a serious looking drone trying to get pictures of the lighthouse from the seaward side, it did fly a hell of a long way out but from where he was he couldn't get the distance require so he was going along the cliff top to get closer. He did notice I had a Canon 7D mark II -Respect......
That was the final stop and it was on to Folkestone.....
