Woke up to a nice day but with dire predictions about the weather, rain and more rain. Plans were afoot for a picnic with Matt and niece Jen, Heidi and Darcy but the predictions won out and it was decided to head for The Elms Harvester eatery for an early dinner.

Having recently spent 26 hours sitting down in a metal tube a walk seemed like a good idea so the four of us headed for Draycote Water near the village of Thurlaston, a reservoir with lots of water fowl, sailing boats, cafe and a long walk.

Depending on whose step meter you believed we walked anywhere between 6 and 9 kilometres and were glad to be back in the car, but it was a very pleasant sojourn.

As it was still early afternoon we made our way to the Midland Air Museum at Coventry Airport. The last time I visited this place was in 1992, Jonathan and I were on a trip and this was one of the few museums I could get him to visit. I have to admit it needs a lot of maintenance as some of the aircraft were looking decidedly tatty, but it is run by volunteers and they do have a great number of exhibits to look after, including a Vulcan bomber.

Then is was time to meet up with the Gledhills at the Elms in Allesley village, we walked from Sue and Al’s and ended up clocking up over 14 kms for the day according to Pennys IWatch. We had a very nice meal but unfortunately I forgot my phone and camera so no pictures…….
