Quiet day today, enjoying the ambience of our new French home, a few photographs taken, some washing done and then on to Issigeac for their market, well it is Sunday after all. As this is the Dordogne there were lots of ex pat English visiting the market. This is an area where are many people who have Escaped to the Continent.
It was interesting as there was a food van which was run by a couple of ex-pats selling UK goods and producing bacon batches. Well who could resist…… Talking to some of the people waiting for their food the conversation turned inevitably to Brexit, the guy who ran the food van said he felt like a stranger for the first time since he moved to France and he thought he might move back to the UK but his wife didn’t agree and said it would be over her dead body! As most of the ex-pats are older the main concern seems to be with health system, at the moment they are all covered under a reciprocal agreement in that the Uk cover any medical expenses and they are worried that that might end and they would have to buy medical insurance, really, they should live in Australia. All in all though nobody knows yet what will happen but people seem not to be following Eric Idle and “Looking on the Bright Side of Life”.
